The goal of “CATS FOR CHRIST” is to provide opportunities for students to have a relevant and life-changing relationship with Jesus.  Reaching UK students is a priority for our church, and Southside has a full-time campus minister, Kevin Wooten, dedicated to that role.  What goes on with Wooten and the “CATS FOR CHRIST?”  Plenty!  Sunday morning worship and Bible class.  Students take part in worship at the Southside building and have their own Bible class.  Special worship times designed for our students.  On Sunday nights at Southside, “8:12” has become a popular and meaningful way for our students to draw closer to God.  And, the Wednesday night “Encounter” worship event is conveniently located at the UK Student Center.  Weekend Road Trips.  Our students take weekend trips to places such as Lake Cumberland, Pensacola Beach, Laurel Lake, etc. for retreats, seminar, and fun.  Spring Break trips to work in the inner city.  During Spring Break, our students don’t just work on their tan – they serve their fellow man!  In the last nine years, the “CATS FOR CHRIST” have done inner-city service projects in Atlanta, Miami, San Antonio, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Dallas.  The students do wonderful work in helping others, but they can’t fool us:  we know they have a great time too.  Ministry and social activities.  “CATS FOR CHRIST” has a Drama Team and Music Team for those with talents in those areas.  The students take part in local service projects at places such as the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital and the Lafayette Place Retirement Center.  Plus, they get together for social events – dinners, game nights, and so on.

“CATS FOR CHRIST” is a group for making friends, having fun, finding purpose in life, and most of all, growing closer to Jesus Christ.
